Who We Are
Common House Magazine is the University of Ottawa’s undergraduate online literary magazine. We publish fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, visual art, and multimedia art from both uOttawa students and members of the broader community. We publish two issues per year: one in the Fall and one in the Winter term. In the summer, we open a themed contest for flash fiction.
Founded in 2022, we have always had a commitment to innovative writing and immersive stories. Our magazine is founded on the belief that Common House can be a place for everyone—an unlikely collection of voices from half a dozen countries and counting.

We sat down with The Fulcrum (uOttawa) to discuss our identity, history, and future: read here.

It is a remarkable privilege to read stories from around the world. But we can't forget our roots.
Every summer, in addition to our summer contest, we also feature a Summer Spotlight collection: pieces of art exclusively by uOttawa students. This practice provides us with a curated assortment of pieces that are uniquely Canada, uniquely uOttawa, and uniquely us.
