As Many Words for Snow
Sierra Duffey
Don’t dilute the incisiveness
of sleet, precarious on the windowsill.
Your philodendron sealed
at the needlepoint of aliveness.
You are glistening and crystalline
as the stalactites that huddle on the overhang,
delicate breaks
as copious as your weight.
You precede the seasons, their dereliction
a radiant geometry
now weeping silver.
Your suncrest lips quiver
in the winter glow.
You sample the cleft, count the serifs.
