Artist's Statement: Taryn Dutton is a multidisciplinary artist in their 3rd year of the BFA program at uOttawa. Their practice falls in between the space of performance art and photography. Working with broken camera equipment and primarily in long exposures to attain otherworldly sensations in their works, this visual distortion mirrors the themes they explore, including identity, gender, and fluctuating emotions. Taryn Dutton is a multidisciplinary third-year BFA student focusing their practice in photography, sculpture, and installations. Working through a feminist lens and a practice rooted in existentialist inquiry, they explore themes revolving around mental health, identity, and childhood.
